What you need to know about the disinformation campaign

Have you ever been in the unfortunate position of desperately wanting to save the life of another living creature — but someone told you that you shouldn’t, couldn’t, or were not even allowed to try because in that person’s opinion it’s a waste of time?

Right now, in Colorado, the Socially Conscious Sheltering Bill HB21–1160 is being debated. While widely promoted to “protect pets and create safer communities”, it amounts to little more than an attempt to rebrand the unpopular regressive shelter philosophy without actually changing any of their policies. This movement is making its way through other states as well, so if you ever have anything to do with animal shelters of any kind you’re bound to hear about it sooner or later.

At first glance, this movement, as well as its accompanying bill, does look both compassionate and wonderful. So why are so many animal advocates, small shelters, and rescues against it?
